In addition to it’s unique business model, Dubli is a rare opportunity to participate in a new business from the beginning but with a proven business model. Imagine if you had been able to buy licenses in e-Bay where you would get a share of the e-Bay profits for helping to spread the word and helping customers find and use the service! I don’t know for sure that Dubli will be as successful as e-Bay but I think it has some ingredients which suggest that it could be a great home business. A friend of mine and the person who introduced Dubli to me has put together this short overview. It is actually a recording of a webinar. The quality of the audio could be better but the recording will help you better understand:

Information meeting this Friday September 3, 2008

As you know we have been running information meetings every Wednesday at 7:30 PST. These are a great way to find out more about Dubli and to ask questions. You can listen in and if Dubli is not for you then we completely understand and no hard feelings.

It is nice however to meet in person every now and then so for those of you in the Portland, Oregon metro area we are going to host a meeting this Friday (Sept 5th) at 1 pm at McMinamins Tavern and Pool at 1716 NW 23rd, downtown Portland.

It would be great to meet you so come along and learn about the amazing Dubli opportunity. Dubli is a great home business with significant income potential. I would appreciate it if you would let me know if you plan to attend (use the contact form).

Dubli for Fund Raising August 28, 2008

When Dubli launches we will have the ability to create private label auctions for organizations that need help with fund raising. We don’t have all the details yet but we do know a little:

  1. Organizations (e.g. non-profits, schools, churches, scouting troups, etc) can have a private label auction set up that has their branding. The fund raising organization then informs their members or donors who use the site.
  2. The fund raising organization receives a portion of revenue (which can be substantial) generated by their members or donors who buy items on the site
  3. The business associate who helps setup the private label auction receives a commission
  4. Only the Xpress auction will be part of the private label auction.
  5. There is an initial setup charge for the creation of the organization’s branded site

We will get more information over the next few weeks but this could be of great value to non-profits who want an easy to manage fundraiser. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Early Dubli Problems. Is Dubli a Scam? August 25, 2008

Of course, for any business a key element is the customer experience. Does Dubli provide something that customers want to buy? I think the answer is yes. Of course Dubli has had their teething problems.

You might find on the web a few posts about how horrible Dubli is and that is is a scam. My understanding is that the main problems were with something called the “Market Place”. This was an area where individuals could place items for sale in a similar way to eBay (Dubli is a reverse auction however). What happened is that a number of people did not fulfill the sale. People were scammed but this was not really the fault of Dubli. Because of the complaints, Dubli shut down the “Market Place” and now only sell new products from authorized resellers and themselves.

Giving Dubli A Try August 21, 2008

I don’t know if Dubli is the greatest thing since sliced bread or not. I don’t really know if the great success stories I have been told are true or not. I can’t prove any of them. But I can look at how the service works to see if I think US consumers will like the service. And I can look at the way the compensation plan works. I have concluded that, yes, perhaps this will work.

The investment is relatively small so if it doesn’t work, I haven’t lost much. On the other hand the upside is significant so I have decided to sign up.

In the next few days I will write more about my experience and explain more details about Dubli as best I know them.

Welcome to this blog. My name is Michael Thompson and I am a marketing coach/consultant and I work primarily with small busineses.
