Dubli Prices Are Competitive September 20, 2009

Posted by admin in : How it works , add a comment

When Dubli first started I was a bit disappointed at the auction start prices. They were a bit higher than other sites such as Amazon. That meant that if you were one of the first bidders you would not find a bargain. Since that time the start prices are lower than many alternatives. If you are one of the early bidders you will still get a fair price even of no one else has yet bid. If the item has been on the site for a while you may get a great price! It becomes a game of price chicken! How low must it go before someone buys.

I myself recently  bought a Creative Vado HD camcorder. The lowest price on Amazon was $112. I bought mine for $94. Now I could have waited for the price to go lower but I needed it now and the price was still lower than anywhere else so I bought.

By the way, my brother-in-law also looked at Dubli, comparing camera prices. He has done a lot of price shopping for some of the higher-end Nikons and commented that Dubli’s prices seemed better.

Bargains are getting even better! December 11, 2008

When Dubli first started in the US I was, frankly, a bit underwhelmed at the discounts. For some weird reason people were buying things at only a slight discount from the list price. They could have bought these items cheaper at Amazon. Over time however, the discounts are growing. I don’t know the exact numbers but it looks like things are currently hovering at around 30%.

Interestingly if you go and look on the European site you will see the discounts are huge. You can see for yourself if you click on the European flag while on the Dubli site (it is next to the US flag). Some items on the Xpress auction are even down to zero! How can this be? You would think that if an item gets down to almnost zero someone would have bought it already.

What is happening is that the volume of clicks is becoming so high that there is a fast cascading effect once an item gets below a certain point.

In talking to some people at Dubli what I discovered is that previous experience shows that the growth in people using the auction seems to grow exponentially after around 4 months. It happened in Germany at 4 months and it is happening Europe wide after four month. We think it will happen in the US in four months. Since Dubli launched in the US in October that would put the upswing at around February or March. With the ongoing recession that could change but at some point it will happen.

For us business associates it means there should be a significan increase in our income in February or March, if we have been recruiting customers.

I’m excited. Got to run, got a bunch more customers to invite!

Free 3 Credit Offer Expires This Friday! October 29, 2008

Just a reminder that the 3 free credits offer for registering with Dubli expires on October 31st. Auctions are running and people are getting bargains.

If you want to see how the auctions are running in Europe ( 4 months after launch), go to the US Dubli site, click on the European flag that is next to the US flag then change the language to English. If you click on the completed auctions link you will see the prices that people have been paying. From what we learned from Europe, the auction sales really took off after 4 months.

You will see some very low prices in the Xpress auction. Surprisingly low. This is because so many people were bidding that the price dropped really quickly. Impressive.

Sources of Income from Dubli October 18, 2008

A few people have asked me how Dubli earns it’s income and how we business associates earn our money. Some of the people I have talked to think that our income is only from recruiting new business associates. This is incorrect.

Dubli earns it’s income from the clicks on the auctions. Each click costs 80 cents. At the lowest level in the Dubli organization we earn 10% of each click or 8 cents. At the highest level it is 24%. We earn this on all of our direct customers. A direct customer is one who signed up for Dubli using our affiliate code (which may have been passed by referral).

As our organization grows we also earn a percentage of clicks from the customers of the other business associates in our organization.

We do also earn income from recruiting new business associates but this should eventually be less than the click income.

Once more with feeling — Is Dubli a Scam or Ponzi Scheme? September 29, 2008

On certain sites and blogs I see that some people still claim that Dubli is a scam. I’ve read through their comments and much of the time they seem to have their facts wrong or just don’t understand how Dubli works. Some think that Dubli is a pyramid or ponzi scheme but I really don’t think so.

In a pyramid or ponzi scheme, people only make money as long as more and more people keep joining the network. Usually there is no product or service of value so the revenue only comes from new members. Ultimately there are insufficient people left to join and the whole thing collapses.

Dubli on the other hand has a service and customers which ultimately generate most of the income. When a customer clicks on one of the reverse auctions for example, they pay 80 cents to see the price. Some portion (25 cents I believe) of the 80 cents goes to reduce the price of the item being sold and the rest goes to paying affiliates and profit. At the business associate level of Dubli, we get 10% of the 80 cents. As we grow our network, the percentage inceases for our personal customers and we start getting a small percentage of the revenue from our network’s customers. (Note you can now see for your self. Until October 31st, Dubli is offering three free credits so you can play with the auctions. Register here)

To me it is pretty obvious that there is a net revenue inflow of revenue from customers. That means it is not a pyramid or ponzi scam. It is true that we make additional money from building a network and in the short term (particularly before Dubli launches) that will be the majority of the revenue. After the launch however, as people start buying products on Dubli, the affiliate percentages from clicks will far outweigh the network building revenues.

It gets pretty exciting because if you build a network you can end up with hundreds of not thousands of customers and you get a percentage of their clicks! Remember it’s not just the customers you introduce to Dubli but also the customers of the people in your network AND — the referrals from customer to customer. The data in Germany suggests that each customer refers 5 other customers. You can image how big your customer base can get.

If you have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to let me know.

Why Dubli Could Be A Great Home Business September 13, 2008

In addition to it’s unique business model, Dubli is a rare opportunity to participate in a new business from the beginning but with a proven business model. Imagine if you had been able to buy licenses in e-Bay where you would get a share of the e-Bay profits for helping to spread the word and helping customers find and use the service! I don’t know for sure that Dubli will be as successful as e-Bay but I think it has some ingredients which suggest that it could be a great home business. Check out this page as to why you should seriously consider Dubli.

What is Dubli? September 13, 2008

A friend of mine and the person who introduced Dubli to me has put together this short overview. It is actually a recording of a webinar. The quality of the audio could be better but the recording will help you better understand:

  1. How the Dubli auctions work
  2. How profits are generated by the auction which I think goes a long way to showing why Dubli is not a scam or a pyramid scheme but a real service that has a lot of appeal.
  3. An introduction to the online shopping mall and shopping search engine

The US Dubli launch is coming up soon and the experience of the European launch suggests that the first movers have a strong advantage. If you want to join or need more information please don’t hesitate to contact me.
